SHALE STABILIZER DRIL-CPG

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

DRIL-CPG is a medium-cloud-point poly glycol designed for high salinity poly glycol systems. It is used to stabilize hydratable and dispersible shale and enhance the lubricating and HT fluid loss control properties of water base drilling fluids. It provides improved wellbore stability and reduces dilution rates and bit balling. DRIL-CPG is compatible for most applications specifying low toxicity additives.

APPLICATION

DRIL-CPG stabilizes shale by adsorbing onto clay surfaces and preventing the water from entering the clay matrix. Improves the performance of PHPA based mud drilling fluids.

ADVANTAGES

Stabilizes reactive formations and helps to increase mud lubricity.

Reduces bit-balling tendencies.

Improves wellbore stability and shale inhibition

Improves lubricity and improves high-temperature filtration control

Reduced dilution rates and mud consumption

Low toxicity and stable

PHYSICAL PROPERTIES

Physical Appearance: Amber to Dark Brown   Liquid

Specific gravity: 1.01 – 1.03

Flash Point (PMCC): Above 110°C

Cloud Point (3%   Glycol in 10% NaCl Solution): 65° - 82°C

RECOMMENDED TREATMENT

DRIL-CPG may be used in conjunction with most other common water-based drilling fluid products. Normal dosage ranges from 2 to 5% by volume of the liquid phase or 7 to 17.5 lb/bbl (20 to 50 kg/m3 ). After the initial treatment, periodic treatments should be made to maintain the desired concentration.

PACKING AND STORAGE

DRIL-CPG is packaged in 55‐gal (208‐L) drums. Store in dry, well‐ventilated area. Keep container closed. Keep away from heat, sparks and flames. Store away from incompatibles.

DRIL-CPG is equivalent to GLYDRIL-MC
